TMJ/TMD

TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which is the joint that connects your jaw to the rest of your skull. If you clench your jaw, grind your teeth, or have other joint issues, you are at risk for developing TMD, or temporomandibular joint disorder.

How We Can Help

Cordano Dental is committed to helping our patients stay happy and healthy. Living with TMJ/TMD is uncomfortable and can severely inhibit daily actions, but luckily, we are here to help!

If you suspect you have TMD/TMJ, we would love to have you in for a consultation. During the consultation, you will discuss your symptoms with one of our dentists. Additionally, we will scan your mouth using a digital scanner that analyzes your bite and will tell us where you’re clenching or biting oddly.

From that point on, our team will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan. We understand that every patient is unique, so we offer tailored solutions that take into account your individual needs.

Most patients require night guards or splints worn when they go to bed. The guard keeps them from grinding or clenching their teeth, which generally mitigates their TMJ/TMD problems.

Other patients require more in-depth treatment. Orthodontic treatment, including braces, can help TMJ/TMD by realigning the jaw and correcting problematic bites, getting rid of strain on the jaw.

For patients whose TMJ/TMD problems are severe and do not go away with other forms of treatment, Cordano Dental also offers full-mouth reconstruction.

Living with TMJ/TMD interferes with your daily life. Let us handle it and you can get back to doing what you do best. Call Cordano Dental today to schedule a consultation.
